Welcome to SBP!

First off, a quick welcome to StartButtonPress. I'm making this site as a little side project of mine, in order to give myself a little more writing experience in the world
. It's intended to be a site where you can drop by and have a read of the latest news for Nintendo systems - mainly the DS and the soon-to-be-unleashed Wii - as well as reading the occasional short review of games for these systems. You can rely on these reviews to be free of bias and subjectivity, hopefully, bascially because I don't have the standing to be bribed by any companies
. All the reviews are done on games I buy myself, so they're very much from a consumer's viewpoint. In the future I'll probably also revisit these reviews to comment on the long-term playability of the games, as that's certainly an important factor for my gaming purchase decisions
.
I hope you have fun here, and I also hope that in time StartButtonPress will thrive enough to be a valuable resource for anyone interested in Nintendo news and reviews. But at the moment, it's very much in its infancy, so be gentle with your criticism (:
For now, a quick writeup of recent news in the Ninty world:
E3 Conference Video - High-res download of Nintendo's E3 press conference, where the Wii was first properly demonstrated and a whole heap of info was released. Highly recommended, if just to watch Miyamoto conduct a virtual orchestra with the Wiimote.
Nintendo official Wii site - Nintendo's official Wii site, with a dearth of information on anything and everything Wii. The official pictures of the console itself look stunning!
Wii pricing? - YahooNews are saying that the official pricepoint for the Wii will be ~US$250, so hopefully we'll see it debut over here for less than $400.
Iwata interview - An interview with Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, with interesting details on the Wii's "Virtual Console" service, where older Nintendo (and others') games can be bought and downloaded over broadband for as little as $6, allegedly.
IGN - DS and Wii connectivity - A note on the DS & Wii's interconnectivity possibilities... "The DS can be used as a touch screen controller for the Wii", among other things!
1-Up - MP3: Corruption - 1-Up's impressions of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
Joystiq - Super Mario Galaxy - Joystiq's first look at Super Mario Galaxy.
IGN - WarioWare: Smooth Moves - IGN's take on the next Warioware game,
WarioWare: Smooth Moves.
Joystiq - Wii Sports - Joystiq again, looking at Wii Sports, which will apparently come bundled with the console itself.
DSL screen test - A video on YouTube where some unscrupulous soul attempts to break the DS's touchscreen (in what looks like a retail store) but fails. It's comforting to know that the screen can take that kind of punishment, but you still wish that the person doing that was caught
GoNintendo's DSL case roundup - GoNintendo's great case roundup for the DS Lite, a whole heap of cases trialed there.
That's enough for now, if I post any more I'll run out for later days
See you all again soon!
